Episode 22: Actuaries as Thought Leaders with Chris Dolman

“It's got to be more than just: I want to be a thought leader.  There needs to be some influence you want to have on the world, and some reason why you want to do that.  So it's important for you to sit back and reflect on that a bit and work out, what do you actually want to do and why, and then go and do it.”

Chris Dolman,
Experienced Actuarial Leader

Chris Dolman is working to ensure that AI and other data-driven decisions operate responsibly, thoughtfully and ethically. In recent years he has focussed on building these capabilities at IAG, after a varied career across industry and consulting, in Australia and the UK.

He is an active member of the Actuaries Institute’s General Insurance and Data Science Practice Committees, is a Gradient Institute Fellow, and was the 2022 Actuary of the Year.
