His current role of Executive Manager, Data and Algorithmic Ethics helps to ensure that modern decision-making algorithms and other advanced uses of data are designed and implemented in an ethical, responsible and thoughtful way. Prior to this, Chris held a variety of senior management positions in the insurance industry and consulting, in Australia and the UK. In this interview, I asked Chris about his career to date, as well as:

  1. How he found himself working in the AI space,

  2. Why he works part-time and his reflections on what makes flexible work arrangements successful, and

  3. His top tip for actuaries stepping into management roles for the first time.
